Throughout the past few years, West Palm Beach, especially the downtown area, has been rapidly developing and expanding. Initially these West Palm Beach condos were proposed to be within one 25-story tower, standing approximately 327 feet high, containing a total of 49 units. Earlier this month, a meeting between the city of West Palm Beach commissioners and the prospective developer indicated that plans had been revised. There were now a proposed 2 high rise buildings of West Palm Beach condos, the first structure still boasted the same dimensions, while the second was proposed to be 24 stories high, a little over 314 feet, and to contain 47 units. This revision also indicated that rather than having one square, immense tower, the developer of these West Palm Beach condos proposed to have 2 rounded buildings constructed to “open up the sky”. The property is proposed to sell for $23 million, which will help the church pay off any debt, and improve it’s alternative campus in West Palm Beach. Those opposed to the project proposal call these new West Palm Beach condos “eye sores”, and are concerned about preserving the chapel’s history. Commissioners in favor of the project think that the installation of these new West Palm Beach condos will incite economic improvements to the downtown area. As it stands now, the proposal is set to be re-discussed on January 6th 2014, to further determine whether the downtown skyline will be boasting these sleek new West Palm Beach condos or not within the very near future.
